Yes, all my work is trauma informed. I offer sandplay therapy for trauma treatment alongside more traditional psychotherapy. I am trained in EMDR level 1 and 2, but I do not regularly utilize EMDR practices in my work. If you are seeking more formalized EMDR, I can make a referral upon request.

What does your logo mean?
The symbols in my logo represent important elements in my work and life: the helping hand, my commitment to service; the lotus flower, growth that arises from struggle and pain; the moon, the divine feminine; the swirl of infinity, the cyclical nature of life; the star, a reminder of our origin; the sun, hope and light; the 60’s flower encourages us that peace and love are possible; the eye, for clear seeing; and the heart, to emphasize the intention at the center of everything I do.
The submark “T” at the bottom page of my website stands for a Torii (gate) or threshold symbolizing the beginning of an important journey
Who are your greatest professional influences?
The best training I had to be a therapist was experiencing my own work with wonderful therapists. In addition to my graduate studies at Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, I am grateful to: my Pennsylvania Gestalt Center mentors and teachers Mariah Fenton Gladis, Mark Putnam and Dori Middleman; my sandplay teachers Lorraine Freedle and Sherry Shepherd, my Vipassana teacher Mary Grace Orr, and my outdoor dharma teacher Susie Harrington. I also credit my big sisters, Jamie Sussel Turner and Laura Lurie, and my son Toby Broido, all of whom share this profession with me.
What is Gestalt Therapy?
Gestalt therapy is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses on the individual's experience in the present moment, the therapist–client relationship, and the environmental and social contexts of a person's life. It was developed by Fritz Perls, Laura Perls and Paul Goodman in the 1940s and 1950s. I am a graduate of the Pennsylvania Gestalt Center: https://gestaltcenter.com/
What is Sandplay Therapy?
Jungian Sandplay Therapy is a window into your inner world. It is a hands-on, creative form of psychotherapy developed by Dora Kalff, based on the psychological theories of Carl Jung. In a sandplay session, you'll have the opportunity to create a three-dimensional scene in a rectangular tray filled with sand, using miniature figures and objects. The therapist doesn’t necessarily interpret your sand tray, rather the client and the therapist witness the creation and share a creative and curious space where meaningful symbols and archetypes are invited to emerge. I am a registered sandplay practitioner (RSP) with Sandplay Therapists of America. https://www.sandplay.org/
